Grand Opening details for Rock Hill's Novant Health BMX Supercross

After more than three years in the making, the ultimate dual-purpose BMX facility is now ready to open.

The City of Rock Hill, South Carolina -under the BMX leadership of program director Mike King, have announced that Novant Health BMX Supercross track "is completed," and they are ready for the first race to fly down one of their two starting hills.

On Saturday, August 23, the city of Rock Hill will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a tour of this incredible BMX facility.

Top pros Barry Nobles (Dk), Justin Posey (Dan's Comp) and 2012 Olympic Gold medalist and reigning No.1 Woman Pro in USA BMX - Mariana Pajon, will all be on hand for a meet & greet with the local riders and city dignitaries.

Be a part of BMX History: Novant Health BMX track opens it's gates to USA BMX members - and holds their very first race - on Saturday, August 23.

  • Ribbon cutting ceremony: 10am - noon

  • Race Registration: 11am - 1:30pm

  • Grand Opening Race & Practice Noon - 2pm, w/ racing ASAP
    *This is a single points race.

ABOUT ROCK HILL:The Novant Health BMX Suprcross facility is just one piece of the Rock Hill Outdoor Center at Riverwalk. The existing and planned cycling venues at the Rock Hill Outdoor Center (RHOC) will offer Olympic-caliber facilities for use by both beginner and elite athletes alike. With a variety of programs and events complementing the world-class facilities, Riverwalk’s existing and planned cycling venues make the Rock Hill Outdoor Center (RHOC) the Southeast’s premier year-round sports venue.

 

Riverwalk is already home to Giordana Velodrome, miles of mountain bike trails with river views, the Piedmont Medical Center trail, challenging cyclocross trails and cycle-friendly streets throughout the village - including a closed road course. This master planned community is destined to become a cycling mecca.
